Wormald has been designing, servicing and installing fire protection systems since 1889.  Together with our state of the art, high technology Type 1A security business, Wormald protects life and property including national icons, government, retail and commercial premises and hundreds of thousands of people each and every day.

An exciting opportunity exists for a commercially astute and proactive inhouse counsel to lead Wormald’s legal function.  As a member of Wormald’s senior leadership team, you will assist in further developing and guiding business strategy while delivering contemporary legal advice and support across the business nationally.

In this hands on and diverse role, you will provide commercial legal support, including on matters such as drafting and negotiating commercial agreements protecting the Company’s interests in a commercially astute manner, managing and advising the operations on commercial disputes and litigation, real estate and property matters, Company Secretarial requirements, legislative compliance, insurances and intellectual property. In addition, you will provide leadership to Wormald’s Industrial Relations function, ensuring compliance while meeting business objectives.

You will be a qualified Lawyer and hold a current Australian practicing certificate.  Ideally, you will have five years’ experience in a construction or engineering based environment.  Alternatively, you may have law firm experience including secondments to contracting or engineering based organisations.  Exposure to industrial relations and a strong understanding of industrial relations legislation will be highly regarded.

With excellent written and verbal communications skills, developing and maintaining solid business relationships with key operational personnel will be second nature to you as is the ability to influence key stakeholders while juggling competing priorities.
