Fire Safety Advisor Training QLD only

We offer Fire Safety Advisor training to building occupiers. This training provides participants with the skills and knowledge to carry out the duties of the Fire Safety Advisor, such as; develop risk management strategies and advise on the emergency planning process.

As of 1 July 2009, under the Queensland Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008, all high occupancy buildings are legally required to appoint a FSA.

Completion of this course not only satisfies the training requirements for the ‘Fire Safety Advisor’ role under the Queensland Building Fire Safety Regulations 2008, but meets the national qualifications in emergency prevention, workplace evacuation and the initial response training required to deal with emergencies in the workplace.

Target Audience: Owners/managers of high occupancy building. (High occupancy is classified as: 30 or more employees; a Class 2 or 3 building that is more than 25m in height; or a Class 4 building and an at risk licensed premises, as nominated by the Commissioner).

Duration: 3 Days

Location: Wormald Brisbane office (Browns Plains). The next course dates are 7th, 8th and 9th of February 2012 and 24th, 25th and 26th of April 2012.

Course Overview:

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of the Fire Safety Advisor
  • Develop an understanding of the Legislation pertaining to the fire safety
  • Identify fire safety installations/equipment in a building Develop an awareness and understanding of maintenance and records pertaining to fire safety
  • Develop risk management strategies

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of emergency control organisation members
  • Understand the role and functions of the emergency planning committee
  • Operate fire extinguishers
  • Conduct and evaluate evacuation exercises and fire drills
