Computer centres are often the hub of many business operations. Their critical nature demands specialist fire protection techniques.
Wormald recommend that computer centres be protected with an Inergen Gas Flooding System. In addition to installing Inergen, it may be necessary to interface the gas flooding system with a VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus System). Interfacing the Gas Flooding System with a VESDA System is necessary when high air flows are present within the facility or when intervention is required at a very early stage of fire development.
Gas Flooding Systems are specified when a risk analysis of the area to be protected reveals the following:
- The area to be protected is of critical importance (or high replacement value) to the business operation.
- The downtime associated with a potential fire incident must be kept to an absolute minimum.
- Other fire protection mediums are not suitable.
- The suppression agent must not affect people or equipment and must not delay reinstatement time.
