Industrial

Industrial fire hazards are varied and often unique to a particular industry. Wormald have extensive experience in the design, installation and commissioning of Industrial Fire Protection Systems.

These systems are often requirements of the Australian Building Codes and Australian Standards for life safety, as well as environmental reasons and increasing insurance requirements.

Wormald engineer fire protection solutions that use a range of suppression mediums, detection and Early Warning Intercommunication Systems (EWIS).

Extinguishing mediums include:

  • Dry Chemical Systems
Stand-Alone Systems for industrial paint booths.
  • High Velocity Water Spray Systems
For the protection of electrical transformers.
  • Medium Velocity Water Spray Systems
For the protection of LPG storage tanks and flammable liquids processing equipment.
  • Gas Flooding Systems
  • Foam Water Systems

Typical industrial uses of special hazard systems include:

  • Industrial Printing Press - Modern printing presses often utilise flammable inks and solvents. Such machines can be protected by automatic Carbon Dioxide Gas Flooding Systems.

  • Industrial spray booths - These risks can be protected using an Ansul Index Dry Chemical Extinguishing System (both automatic and manual options exist).

  • Thermal-heating Oil overflow storage tanks - The temperature control of thermal-heating oil is often a difficult procedure. If a thermostat fails, the oil will continue to be heated until it reaches the auto ignition temperature. Fire can occur and spread to various areas of the plant. The risk can be minimised by providing a foam extinguishing system.

There is also a wide range of Portabl Fire Extinguishers and Fire Alarms to cover the many risks present in industrial areas.
