Quantitative Fit Testing
Because your health and safety are too important to leave to chance, Wormald now provides a Quantitative Facial Fit Testing service of your personal respiratory device to safeguard you against accidental inhalation of contaminants such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), Avian Influenza and other infectious and airborne diseases.
Inhalation is the most common route by which foreign and often dangerous substances may enter the body. Therefore, where there is a risk of exposure to potentially infectious airborne contaminants, a facial respirator should always be worn. Whilst personal respiratory devices, such as full and half-face masks, are essential in preventing the spread of infectious diseases, did you know that a poorly fitting face mask may not be protecting you at all?
The importance of fit testing
Humans come in a variety of shapes and sizes – and so do personal respirators. That is why a perfect facial fit is paramount in obtaining optimum protection. A poor fitting respirator may lead to a leakage of contaminants into the breathing zone, thereby compromising the safety of the wearer. In fact, if you are wearing a personal respirator that has not been adequately fit tested, you may be gambling with your health.
Wormald’s highly trained fit testing personnel utilise the very latest PORTACOUNT® Plus Universal System ensuring a perfect fit, with absolutely no guesswork. And of course all our equipment is in full compliance with Australian Standard AS/NZS 1715:1994, which provides recommendations for the selection, use and maintenance of all personal respiratory protective devices.
Unlike other facial fit testing methods, Wormald’s Quantitative Facial Fit Testing service does not rely on a subjective response, eliminating the human variables associated with qualitative methods.
Advantages of Wormald’s Quantitative Fit Testing service:
- Elimination of guess work
- Accurate results immediately
- Hard copy documentation of results provided
- Full compliance to AS/NZS1715:1994 clause 7.5
- Ability to fit test any type of respirator
- Fit is performed using individual’s actual mask.
